Daldal kasi inuna! Duterte to lead command conference on Typhoon Ompong
President Rodrigo Duterte will lead the command conference on Typhoon Ompong Thursday (September 13) as various government agencies prepare for its onslaught.
The command conference will start at 3 p.m. at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Operations Center at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City. The media are allowed to cover the meeting.
Duterte’s attendance to the command conference comes two days after he held a televised one-on-one interview with Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, where there was no mention of Typhoon Ompong.
Experts are warning that the typhoon could reach “super typhoon” status due to its strength.
As of 4 a.m., the eye of Typhoon Ompong was located 855 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum sustained winds of up to 205 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 255 kilometers per hour.
Several provinces in Luzon have been placed under storm signal number 1 due to Typhoon Ompong.
