The Court of Appeals (CA) needs to fill eight vacant seats after a number of its magistrates have either retired or moved up to the Supreme Court (SC).

Because of this, the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) announced that it has begun accepting applications for vacant spots at the appelate court.

The JBC said interested applicants should “submit two (2) complete sets of application or recommendation with conforme, together with all the documentary requirements, to the JBC…not later than 4:30 p.m. of 3 September 2019.”

Among the seats vacated were from CA magistrates who were appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to the SC.

They are Justices Ramol Paul Hernando, Rosmari Carandang, Jean Paul Inting, and Amy Lazaro-Javier.

While, the other seats were vacated by four retired justices.

They are Justice Normandie Pizarro who retired last February 7; Justice Carmelita Manahan, March 21; Justice Edward Contreras, July 9; and Justice Sesinando Villon, July 16.
