PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s Facebook account has been put on “hack lock” due to alleged “strong signs” of attempted “unauthorized access.”
Jefry Tupas, head of Davao City Public Information Office, said Facebook management denied it purged Mayor Duterte’s FB handle, but it admitted it took down the Presidential daughter’s personal account “Sara Zimmerman Duterte.” It said it has monitored “strong signs that there were attempts to hack your account.”
“Please be assured your account has nothing to do with the takedowns we conducted last week, as your IO has mentioned in his posts and press. We understand his concern but please know that this was a protected measure implemented on the platform,” the Facebook management told Duterte’s camp.
The Facebook management earlier took down around 200 “Pro Duterte” pages due to “coordinated, inauthentic behavior.” The concerned FB accounts were allegedly linked to Nic Gabunda, President Rodrigo Duterte’s former social media campaign manager during the 2016 presidential polls.
In an interview in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, Mayor Duterte stressed that her friends told her they could no longer search her account or tag her in their post.
“Yes, sabi nila, kasi hindi na nakikita yung account ko. Yung ang sabi ng friends ko,” said Mayor Duterte.
The Presidential daughter its been months since the last time she was to access her Facebook account since it has been lockedout after her account was heavily reported by suspected online trolls.
She said that she has no plans to file a complaint against the Facebook management since it is a private company.
“Alam nyo, Facebook is not a public property so they have all the rights kung ano ang gusto nilang gawin sa negosyo nila. Kung ayaw nila ang isang account, they can very well take it down.”
