Nothing less than drastic measures – such as seeing one of their own actually behind bars – will deter the “mafia” or core group behind the corruption at the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).
Sen. Panfilo Lacson stressed this Friday as he called for drastic remedial measures that will send home the message that they cannot get away with corruption anymore.
Kaya nilang lusutan eh,” he said in an interview on DZAR radio.
Lacson noted that in the case of WellMed dialysis center last year, the case filed against PhilHealth officials is still pending with the Ombudsman.
Without a clear resolution of the case, he said the core group will continue with its ways because “kaya nilang lusutan eh.”
So nasa Ombudsman yan, isang taon na nakakaraan.
On the other hand, he said former PhilHealth president Roy Ferrer, who was removed from his post over last year’s scandal, is now an assistant secretary at the Department of Health, whose secretary Francisco Duque III is PhilHealth’s ex-officio chairman.
