Daplis lang daw! Cusi adds insult to injury by claiming China didn’t mean to hit PH boat
Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi has rubbed salt on the distress felt by Filipino fishermen whose boat sank in the West Philippine Sea by claiming the Chinese didn’t hit their vessel on purpose.
What’s worse, Cusi made the claim after visiting the fishermen and the damaged boat in Occidental Mindoro.
“Kasi sasabihin natin, kung talagang babanggain eh bakit yung… Kung sa kwan ba, pwede namang, sasabihin nating ‘Napakabulok naman ‘yung babangga, daplis lang’,” he said in a report aired on GMA News’ 24 Oras newscast.
Cusi said the Chinese would have caused more damage to the boat if they “meant to kill.”
The Cabinet official, however, could not explain why the Chinese left the Filipinos at sea after the incident.
The fishermen on board F/B Gemvir claimed their boat was hit by a Chinese vessel while it was anchored on Recto Bank on June 9.
The 22-member Filipino crew were left drifting at sea until they were rescued by a Vietnamese boat.
The Philippine government has filed a diplomatic protest with the International Maritime Organization regarding the incident.
