You don’t need a cape to be a hero.
Actress Angel Locsin has joined a Red Cross operation distributing relief goods to families affected by Taal Volcano in Batangas.
It was Senator Richard Gordon who posted Locsin’s humanitarian gesture on social media.
“DARNA DID IT AGAIN,” Gordon tweeted, sharing photos of the actress during the relief operation. The photos were credited to Jhayvee Hernandez.
“Ms. @143redangel personally went to our Philippine Red Cross-Batangas Chapter to donate and volunteer in the distribution of relief goods and hygiene kits to the families affected by the eruption of Taal volcano,” Gordon, also chairman of Philippine Red Cross, said.
In an Instagram post, Locsin thanked all the volunteers and donors for the relief mission in three evacuation centers in Batangas.
She said the relief goods included 3,126 food packs; 1,760 hygiene kits, 200 towels, 100 blankets, water bottle, medical kits, masks, and baby items.
“Ang Red Cross Batangas Chapter po ay mas may kakayanang maunang rumesponde upang mabilis na makapagbigay ng tulong sa mga nangangailangan, kaya nagdonate po tayo ng 2 truckloads ng ‘ready to distribute’ goods na handa nang ipamigay kung sakaling mas lumala pa po ang situwasyon,” she said.
