Former lawmaker Francisco Datol has finally reclaimed his seat in the House of Representative as congressman of party-list group Senior Citizen.

Datol was sworn in during Wednesday’s session before his fellow party-list legislator, House Deputy Speaker and 1-SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta.

House Majority Floor Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has finally resolved the dispute between two opposing factions of the Senior Citizens Party-list group after issuing a certificate of proclamation (COP) to Datol’s faction.

A week before Datol’s oath-taking, Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and other top brass in the House leadership filed a resolution urging the poll body to finally issue COPs to Senior Citizens and the controversial Duterte Youth Party-list.

COMELEC Commissioner Rowena Guanzon earlier in September said it will be known before Christmas who among the two warring factions of Senior Citizens Party-list will be recognized as the group’s official nominee after they won during the midterm polls last May.

The three opposing sides of the party-list group represents the marginalize elderlies sought the intervention of the COMELEC to finally end the dispute over its official nominees and these include the factions of Datol, and former Reps. Milagros Magsaysay, and Godofredo Arquiza.

The three, who all claimed to be the president of Senior Citizens, submitted their respective list of nominees during the filing of certificate of candidacy last year.
