De Lima admires Trillanes: Maginoo, hindi bastos

Amid threats of being charged before the Senate ethics committee for unparliamentary conduct, Sen. Leila de Lima said Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV was an epitome of a gentleman and honorable public servant.

De Lima’s words of appreciation came after the senator deliveried a privilege speech appealing for compassion among their colleagues and press for her release from detention.

“Dear Sonny, I have no words to describe how I feel upon reading the transcripts of your privilege speech yesterday. Tears just kept rolling overwhelmed with emotions about the sincerity and courage of your words and the deep conviction that underlie the same. Tunay kang maginoo at marangal na tao at lingkod bayan. Maraming salamat!” De Lima said in a handwritten note to Trillanes.

In his speech last Wednesday, Trillanes urged senators them to rally behind and take a stand by looking into the drug charges hurled at De Lima who is now on her six month in detention.

He said that all know deep in their hearts that the senator is not perfect, much more a “drug queen” as alleged by President Duterte, adding that the situation that De Lima is currently in is a clear case of political persecution.
