Senator Leila de Lima has called on the Filipino people to never forget the sacrifices of heroes who have fought for the country’s freedom in the hope of instilling national pride.

De Lima made the remark coinciding the commemoration today, July 12 of the so called “West Philippine Sea Victory Day.”

On July 12, 2016, the PCA has ruled in favor of the Philippines as it declared the so-called “nine-dash line” claimed by China as invalid and without legal basis to claim historic rights to resources within the WPS.

The detained senator said she has refiled this 18th Congress a proposed measure to mark July 12 of every year as a Special Working Holiday to honor the landmark decision and to commemorate this momentous victory as a nation.
