Senator Leila de Lima warned Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra that history would not be kind to him and his ilk in the Duterte administration.
De Lima made the statement of Guevarra dismissed as “trash” the US Senate Resolution 142 urging the Duterte administration to release the senator who has been detained since February 2017 for drug trafficking “Secretary Guevarra, hindi lang ang US resolution ang ibinasura mo.
Guevarra advised de Lima to just wait for her trial to finish noting that the US resolution seeking her release violated Philippine laws.
“That is easy to say for someone not in prison, and who is responsible for the continuation of injustice that is my incarceration based on fabricated charges,” said de Lima.
“Like his predecessor (Vitaliano Aguirre), this Secretary of Justice has discarded rule of law when he allowed criminal convicts to stand as state witnesses against me, in violation of the law,” she added.
