Despite previously boasting about killing at least three alleged criminals as mayor of Davao City, President Rodrigo Duterte said he will never validate information that he indeed took someone’s life.
In an interview with GMA News’ Jessica Soho Thursday (Dec. 29), Duterte was asked if he ever killed anyone who did not put up a fight (hindi nanlaban).
After beating around the bush a little, the President said: “Ganito ‘yan eh. You can never get a validation from me whether it is true or it happened or did not happen.”
He added that no one would already speak about the killings he supposedly did.
“May apat, tatlong suspect. Walang magsalita. Saan ‘yung hostage ninyo? Walang magsalita. Tapos nahuli sila eh ang iba naman natatakot dahil. Sino sila? Walang magsalita,” Duterte said.
Duterte’s admission about supposedly killing criminals in his hometown earlier this month has prompted United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein to call on Philippine authorities to probe Duterte for allegedly carrying out murder.
While Duterte’s lips remain sealed on killing people in the past, he said there was no truth to his earlier statement that he threw someone off a helicopter.
