Deadma lang mga kongresista! SWS: 3 out of 4 Pinoys favor ABS-CBN franchise renewal
Three out of four Filipinos or 75 percent were in favor of renewing ABS-CBN’s franchise, according to the mobile phone survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS).
Results of the survey, which was released July 11, showed only 13 percent of Filipinos didn’t agree with granting ABS-CBN a new franchise. 10 percent were undecided.
SWS conducted the survey from July 3 to 6, before the House of Representatives voted to deny ABS-CBN’s franchise application on July 10.
Based on survey results, 56 percent of respondents agreed with the statement that Congress’ non-renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise is a major blow to press freedom.
Close to 3 in 10 Filipinos, or 27 percent, disagreed that the non-renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise was a press freedom issue while 15 percent were undecided.
The SWS survey involved 1,555 respondents chosen nationwide. It had a sampling error margins of ±2% for national percentages, ±6% for Metro Manila, and ±5% for Balance Luzon, ±5% Visayas, and ±5% in Mindanao).
