Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri has topped the list of potential contenders in the senatorial race in 2022.
In a Facebook post, Zubiri said he is surprised but deeply honored by his ranking in the survey of possible senatorial bets.
“Wow, number 1 sa survey! 😊 I’m completely surprised and shocked to see that I topped Pulse Asia’s list of 2022 senatorial preferences, but I am deeply honored,” he said.
Zubiri, whose term ends in 2022, thanked the people who support him and promised to continue to work hard at the Senate.
“This is truly gratifying, and I sincerely thank the people for their trust and confidence in me,” he said.
“I am motivated to continue working hard as your trabahador ng Senado. Once again Maraming Maraming Salamat Po sa inyong lahat. ❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭” he said.
In the survey, Zubiri ranked first with 60.9 percent voter preference, followed by former Senator Bongbong Marcos with 55.4 percent.
Sharing the 2nd to 5th spot are Speaker Alan Cayetano with 54 percent and President Duterte’s daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte with 52.7 percent.
Coming in 3rd to 6th fifth place is former Senator and now Sorsogon Governor Francis Escudero with 49.2 percent. Senator Panfilo Lacson ranked 5th to 7th spot with 46.8 percent voter preference.
Former Senator and now Antique Rep. Loren Legarda is on the 6th to 8th spot with 41.4 percent. Senator Sherwin Gatchalian ranked 7th to 8th with 40.9 percent.
Rounding the magic 12 are former Senator JV Ejercito (32.3 percent), Senator Risa Hontiveros (31.9 percent), former Senator Bam Aquino (30.8 percent), and Information and Communications Technology Gregorio Honasan (29.3 percent).
