The Aquino-Marcos rivalry has apparently cooled down with the second generation as senator-elect Imee Marcos revealed she was textmate with former President Noy Aquino, her “batchmate” for nine terms in Congress.

Marcos – who is Ilocos Norte Governor who needs to have an open line to Malacanang in order to ensure national government support, especially during disasters – claimed she could go straight to Aquino when he was president and the latter would quickly answer back.

In an interview with ANC.

Marcos claimed she became close to Aquino during their stay in Congress.

“I was coterminous with Noynoy, magkasabay kaming pumasok sa Congress, ako for Ilocos, siya for Tarlac sa 11th Congess. Mag-coterminous kami 11th, 12th, 13th,” said Marcos.

“The irony of it was magkasabay din kami a oposisyon. We were only 19, 20, konting-konti kami. Nag-gigisingan pa nga kami, ‘Uy,uy, walang uuwi, tayo lang boboto mamaya’,” she added.

But Marcos said their communication dried up when the 2016 presidential elections came and her brother, Bongbong Marcos, ran for vice president.

“Pero noong maging manit na, natural it became nastier and nastier. But I don’t take these things personally. At the end of the day, there have been so many elections.

Marcos also said she was cool with Aquno.s sister, Kris and could not forget the last time they met each other at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
