Malacañang distanced itself from the alleged rape and human trafficking cases lodged against the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God.”

“First, I don’t know about it. Second, that should be a private matter involving the pastor. We will not intrude into that private domain,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told reporters Monday.

Panelo assured that the closeness of Quiboloy and President Rodrigo Duterte will not affect the case.

“The rule of law in this country always prevails regardless of who is involved,” he said.

In a complaint filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Davao City on December 19, Blenda Portugal, a former member of the KJC, accused Quiboloy and five other church members of sexual abuse and forced labor.
