Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte flew to Singapore amid the COVID-19 pandemic for “personal health management,” she said Wednesday (April 7).
In a statement, Duterte said she will be on leave until April 10. She said she has travel authority for the overseas trip from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
“The reason is personal health management. All protocols for return to Davao City including RT-PCR testing and 14-day quarantine have all been pre-arranged,” the mayor said.
It was the Manila Bulletin who first reported about Duterte’s Singapore trip on Tuesday (April 6). The paper said the presidential daughter flew to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport from Davao City Tuesday morning. She then boarded a plane bound for Singapore in the afternoon.
Manila Bulletin said Duterte was accompanied by one of her children, an aide and a member of the Presidential Security Group (PSG).
