Korina Sanchez easily said “yes” when former Negros Occidental Rep. Albee Benitez asked her to host a news magazine program for TV5 on their very first meeting.
In an interview with Philippine Star entertainment editor Ricky Lo, Sanchez said she was impressed upon meeting Benitez, whom she described as a “good businessman.”
“The mere fact that he knew how to recognize the value of a show like ours…which has lasted for more than 25 years and harvested awards…for it not to have a home when we still have much more to offer, much more to give, it’s really an honor, an opportunity and a privilege. So, no, hindi ko pinahirapan si Albee,” she said in an article published by the Philippine Star Saturday (October 24).
“It was my first time to meet him and I was impressed. I felt at once that he knew what he was doing, what he was talking about. He recognizes something right away. Konting paliwanag lang at nakukuha na niya,” Sanchez added.
The veteran broadcaster used to host “Rated K” on ABS-CBN for several years. It was stopped following the network’s failure to get a new franchise.
Sanchez’s new program, “Rated Korina” will be airing on TV5 every Saturday. It is produced by Benitez’ Brightlight productions.
Sanchez said she and Benitez had to make some adjustments for her new show.
“We settled on a certain budget, limited but I can make do with it. So I am now the line producer aside from being the host of the show,” she said.
