‘Di lang kinuha sa hangin! Guevarra: PDEA narco list should have factual basis
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) should back up its claims for including in its watch list lawyers, prosecutors and judges.
“I trust that the PDEA chief had enough factual basis for making that statement,” he said on Saturday (March 23).
After President Rodrigo Duterte disclosed his list of narco-politicians, PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino revealed the agency’s drug list also includes lawyers, proscutors, judges, celebrities and even members of the press.
Meanwhile, National Prosecution Service (NPS) Acting Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon declined to show his take on the PDEA’s claims.
“I will withhold issuing any statement until we are properly informed on the parameters used or basis for the inclusion in their watchlist,” he said.
Aquino’s revelations came following President Rodrigo Duterte’s release of the narco-list which named politicians who are allegedly engaged in the illegal drugs trade.
The list, which was also provided by the PDEA, included included 35 mayors, seven vice-mayors, one provincial board member and three Congressmen.
