‘Di na awkward! PDEA chief says he can joke with Robredo after first meeting
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino no longer feels awkward around Vice President Leni Robredo despite previously saying she will fail as the government’s drug czar.
Aquino said he grew comfortable around Robredo after they met for the first time Friday (November 8) as co-chairpersons of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
“Before the meeting, I had the chance to meet the Vice President […] I never had the chance to talk to her so definitely I will feel awkward, and truly enough kanina,I felt awkward,” he admitted in a press conference with Robredo after the meeting.
“But now medyo at home na ako sa kanya. Nagbibiruan na nga kami kanina eh, now we’re okay. In fact, maraming naintindihan na rin kahit papaano si Vice President,” Aquino added.
The PDEA chief previously said Robredo will fail if she accepted President Rodrigo Duterte’s offer to oversee the government’s anti-drug campaign because she lacks experience in law enforcement.
Robredo told Aquino not to worry about his previous statements as they should be both focused on their job at ICAD instead.
“[S]abi ko ‘wag nang pag-usapan ‘yong mga nasabi before, kasi ang sadya naman namin para sa meeting na ‘to is moving forward, what to improve on what we already have,” she said.
