‘Di na kaya ng PNP! Guevarra orders NBI to probe Cebu teen’s killing
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Friday (March 15) has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the brutal killing of 16-year-old Christine Saliwan in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
In a department order, Guevarra stated that “the NBI, through Director Dante A. Gierran, is hereby directed and granted authority to conduct an investigation and case build-up on the murder and alleged rape of Christine Lee Saliwan, who was found dead in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu with her face skinned off and other organs mutilated, and if evidence warrants, to file the appropriate charges against persons found responsible therefor.”
He also told NBI Director Gierran “to submit reports on the progress of the subject investigation and case build-up directly to the Office of the Secretary.”
The victim’s body was found Monday morning at a vacant lot in Barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City.
The victim who was naked from the waist down sustained multiple stab wounds and had her face peeled off to the bone.
The girl served as collector at a church ministry but failed to get home Sunday night.
