United States Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton will also be banned from returning to the Philippines, Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete said on Saturday (sept. 12

“Pemberton is also blacklisted,” said Perete who also has supervision over the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

“Under the rules, a person blacklisted on the basis of moral turpitude may apply to lift the order of blacklisting 10 years after its implementation,” he added.

Meanwhile, Perete said “the deportation of Mr. Pemberton is still being processed by the BI.”

Pemberton, who was convicted of homicide for the 2014 killing of transgender, was recently granted pardon by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The American is set to be deported since the BI board of commissioners issued on Sept. 16, 2015 a deportation order for being an undesirable alien.

“His order for deportation is based on a finding of undesirability on account of the commission of a crime involving moral turpitude (homicide),” explained the undersecretary.
