‘Di na nadala! DBM exec kicked by Duterte seeks seat in Congress
Former Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Undersecretary Gertrudo De Leon apparently hasn’t gotten tired of being in government despite his embarrassing exit from the agency last year.
De Leon has been named as the second nominee of National Association for Electricity Consumers for Reforms (NASECORE) in the 2019 party-list race.
The former DBM executive aspires to be a member of Congress alongside former Energy Undersecretary Petronilo Ilagan, who resigned from his post in August.
Other nominees of NASECORE are: lawyer Philip Adviento, who was formerly with the Philippine Electricity Market Corp. (PEMC), Nelia Fuentebella and Amor Co.
De Leon was identified by Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno last year as the DBM official fired by President Rodrigo Duterte for alleged corruption.
In a speech in November last year, Duterte said he kicked a DBM official out of anger because he stole from government coffers.
“Talagang sinipa ko. Liiterally na sinipa ko talagang putang — tadyak. Lintik ka, pati dito pati pera ng Malacañan, luslusin mo,” he said.
