‘Di naman delikado: Sandiganbayan orders Napoles transfer to women’s correctional facility

The Sandiganbayan 1st Division has ordered Janet Lim Napoles transferred to the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City to serve the prison sentence of her plunder conviction.

The anti-graft court gave the order as it turned down the motion of Napoles who sought to remain detained at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City due to threats against her at the CIW.

“For failure of accused Napoles to substantiate with concrete and convincing proof that her continued detention at the Correctional Institution for Women poses grave threat to her life and security, other than her self-serving allegations, the instant motion is hereby denied,” read the court’s resolution.

Meanwhile, Napoles has a pending motion for reconsideration asking the 1st Division to reverse its Dec. 7 decision which found her guilty of plunder but acquitted her co-accused former Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.

Under the case, Revilla is accused of having amassed P224 million in kickbacks from Napoles, in exchange for choosing her non-government organizations (NGO) to implement ghost projects funded by his pork barrel.
