‘Di pa makakalabas! Inmates to undergo 14-day quarantine before being freed
Persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who are being freed from the facilities of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine, said Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete on Friday (April 24).
“So before sila palayain, meron tayong requirement na i-quarantine sila alinsunod din sa DOH (Department of Health) protocols,” he said during an interview over GMA network.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) spokesman stressed this importance the deadly 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) have begun to appear to some PDLs of the BuCor facilities.
“Meron tayong quarantine facility within each prison farm,” Perete noted.
The BuCor previously reported that 19 female PDLs at the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City and a male PDL at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City have tested positive for the COVID-19.
The male PDL has been placed at the quarantine facility of the NBP.
While, the 18 female PDLs were transferred to the same quarantine facility despite protest from the Muntinlupa City local government.
The other female PDL remains confined at the Sta. Ana Hospital.
