Leila is walking on ‘dangerous ground’ if she confronts Kerwin in ‘tell all’ hearing – Gordon
Senate Justice Committee Chairman, Senator Richard Gordon said he won’t stop his colleague Leila de Lima from attending the potentially explosive Senate hearing with Kerwin Espinosa on Wednesday, November 23 even as the alleged drug lord is expected to bare all that he knows.
Still, Gordon said that to surface at the hearing with Espinosa on deck could prove “dangerous” for Senator De Lima, who is accused of being a drug protector particularly during her time as Justice secretary.
“She’s still a senator. It’s a personal decision on her part (but) it’s dangerous ground. Very dangerous ground on her part na kung lalahok siya , sasabihin ng iba kelangan ipagtanggol (niya sarili niya),” Gordon said in a radio interview Sunday, November 20.
“Pero iba naman sasabihin pagtanggol mo sarili mo, wala namang magtatanggol sayo kundi ikaw eh. Di ba?” Gordon pointed out.
Even before the hearing was scheduled, De Lima said that she expects Espinosa to implicate her in the illegal drug trade, claiming that is what the government wants to happen.
“So yun, nasa sa kanya parin yan. Nasa kanya ulit yan,” said Gordon, who actually succeeded De Lima as Senate Justice panel chair. It can be recalled that the lady politiko was ousted from her seat due to her “biased handling” of committee inquiries.
“But remember kaya nga siya natanggal dyan dahil nakitang merong personal strain yung kanyang ginagawa eh, kaya natanggal siya sa committee on justice. Dahil nakikitang hindi na patas ang kanyang pag iimbestiga,” underscored Gordon.
