Distressed OFWs advised to reconsider working abroad

At least nine distressed overseas Filipino workers in the United Arab Emirates received advice from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Dubai on what to do once they return home.

POLO-Dubai Labor Attaché Ofelia Domingo said she reminded the OFWs that they should consider options other than working abroad.

“I reminded them that they may still venture on working abroad, but they need to prepare their skills, knowledge and attitude, and even consider the extent of social cost it would entail being away from home,” Domingo said.

She said they can also avail of the reintegration program offered by the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO).

Domingo said Social Welfare Attaché Isabel Nillas also oriented the ward-departees on the 4Ps and other assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Meanwhile, the OFWs also got chocolates and cash assistance before their repatriation.
