President Rodrigo Duterte has fired Vice President Leni Robredo as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
This was confirmed by Executive Secrtary Salvador Medialdea in a text.
“Yes,” Medialdea said when asked if Duterte sacked Robredo from her job in leading the government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
Malacañang has yet to provide details on the matter.
In October 31, Duterte designated Robredo as ICAD co-chair after saying that the war on drugs was “not working.”
Last Tuesday, Duterte said he changed his mind about giving Robredo a Cabinet post as he cited “missteps” in her new role.
He criticized the Vice President for meeting with officials of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the US Embassy to discuss the drug war.
