The Department of Health (DOH) has cautioned the public against the use of off-label drugs to prevent or treat the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The use of chloroquine, an anti-malaria drug being considered as a potential treatment for Covid-19, must be guided by clinicians, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said during the Laging Handa public briefing Monday.

The DOH official also warned against the administration of these medicines outside of the hospital setting.
