Don’t pounce yet: Aguirre tells cops to wait for arrest warrant with Dumlao’s full name
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has advised police to wait for the court to issue an arrest warrant specifically naming Superintendent Rafael Dumlao III in the kidnap-slay case of Korean trader Jee Ick Joo before taking him in.
“Ang magaling po may clarififcation at nag-issue na ng warrant of arrest ang husgado against Rafael Dumlao, not just Sir Dumlao,” explained Aguirre.
The Secretary made the comment after being asked what can police do now that Dumalao recently left the restrictive custody of Camp Crame.
A case of kidnapping for ransom with homicide has already been filed before the Angeles City Regional Trial Court (RTC) against suspects SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel, SPO4 Roy Villegas, Ramon Yalung, and four other persons only known through the aliases “Pulis”, “Jerry”, “Sir Dumlao” and “Ding”. The court has already issued arrest warrants.
The Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) has already asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to make amendments in the charge sheet and change the Sir Dumlao to Dumlao’s full name.
The PNP-AKG sought this after confirming from Villegas, who is detained in Camp Crame, that the Sir Dumlao is actually Dumlao of the PNP’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG).
