Doon lang sa pinagkakatiwalaan: Bantag wants men from BJMP to join him at BuCor
Newly appointed Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gerald Bantag wants his trusted people from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to come with him.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra revealed that this was one of the first actions the former BJMP official did after having assumed his post.
“First thing he did was to request the detail or secondment of certain BJMP people whom he can trust to help him at the BuCor,” he told reporters.
Meanwhile, Guevarra told Bantag that the recommendation will be brought up with Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano who has control over the BJMP.
Bantag took over from former Marine Captain Nicanor Faeldon who got sacked due to the controversies concerning undeserving convicts being granted good conduct time allowance (GCTA).
The GCTA controversy was uncovered after rape-slay convict former Calauan, Laguna mayor Antonio Sanchez and other heinous crimes convicts were either about or have been released already despite being disqualified under the GCTA law.
