Talk about putting the pressure on Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo’s shoulders.
Liberal Party (LP) Vice Chairman, Senate President Franklin Drilon practically said that the administration has no “Plan B” in the event that the lady solon declines to be LP bet Mar Roxas’ running mate next year.
“Wala po kaming naiisip doon dahil buo ang aming pagasa na tatanggapin ni Congresswoman Leni yung ang aming alok na siya ay maging vice presidential candidate,” Drilon told Bombo Radyo in an interview Friday, October 2.
The LP official was asked about their possible alternative should Robredo, a neophyte in politics, would say “no”.
Drilon earlier categorically said that the LP had already received Robredo’s nod, only to be denied by the latter. Now, Drilon is saying it is best to just wait for the big decision on Monday.
“Kaya sa aming tingin, ang pinakamahusay at pinakadisente at bagay na maging bise presidente ni Mar Roxas dito po sa ‘Tuwid na Daan’ ay si Congresswoman Leni, ngunit hintayin na lang po natin, sa Lunes siguro ay magkakaroon na ng announcement.”
The filing of certificates of candidacy will begin on October 12. (Samantha A. Giron)
