Drilon rejects ‘ridiculous’ Bikoy lies vs Liberal Party
Senate Minority Leader Frank Drilon on Thursday said he found it “quite painful” to listen to Peter Joemel Advincula’s accusation linking the Liberal Party (LP) to the ouster plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.
Advincula, the man behing the “Bikoy” videos linking some of the President’s family and close associates to illegal drugs, claimed during a press conference that the LP and Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV connived to overthrow the Duterte administration.
Bikoy alleged that Vice President Leni Robredo and Trillanes connived to remove Duterte so they can assume the presidency and vice presidency respectively. Drilon denied this.
“The Liberal Party had nothing to do with the so-called Bikoy video. We deny the accusations that the Liberal Party connived with an obviously professional con artist to topple the government is most absurd,” he said.
“It is ridiculous on so many levels. It’s excruciating to have listened to all his lies.”
Drilon, nonetheless, called for a police probe on the Bikoy issue. “Having said that, I urge the Philippine National Police to get to the bottom of this Bikoy issue and file the appropriate charges,” he said.
