Drilon says Leni is Mar’s running mate
Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo is the one.
Liberal Party (LP) Vice Chairman, Senate President Franklin Drilon came out with a categorical statement Wednesday, September 30 that Rep. Robredo–widow of the beloved late Interior
Secretary Jesse Robredo–will be the administration’s vice presidential bet.
“Sabihin na lang natin na si Congresswoman Leni na ang kandidato natin sa pagkabise –presidente,” Drilon said in an interview over at Umagang Kay Ganda.
The LP official was asked a direct question on whether or not the lady lawmaker–a neophyte in politics–would be named Mar Roxas’ running mate.
Drilon gave the statement mere hours ahead of the ruling party’s National Executive Council (NECO) meeting at their headquarters in Cubao where they will thresh out their election ticket.
Rep. Robredo has been very reluctant with regard Roxas’ offer to form a tandem with him in 2016, citing her daughters as the main reason.
But with Drilon’s confirmation, next year’s vice presidential contest will now be four-cornered fight with Senators Chiz Escudero, Antonio Trillanes and Alan Peter Cayetano all vying for the position. (Samantha A. Giron)
