Dumami na kasi ang tests: Ping says spike in COVID cases suggests more tests being done now

A seeming spike in COVID-19 cases in recent days may be due to more tests being done now compared to before, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Tuesday.

Lacson said that in previous months, the DOH would report only about 200 cases a day but this was more due to the limitations in encoding data.

“The steady spike in Covid-19 cases merely suggests that more tests are being done now than before when DOH used to report a very predictable average of 200 cases per day,” he said in a post on his Twitter account.

Earlier this week, the DOH noted the number of cases in the country had spiked, breaching the 30,000 mark.

Lacson earlier stressed the need for the DOH to better handle data related to COVID-19, saying the wrong data may lead authorities to make the wrong decisions.
