Dun tayo sa sigurado! Duterte seeks tougher vetting of other politikos linked to drugs

President Rodrigo Duterte did not read all the names in the new drug list, citing the need for further vetting.
A total of 46 politikos – three lawmakers, 35 mayors, seven vice mayors, and one provincial board member – were listed in the narco list Duterte bared during the National Peace and Order Council meeting in Davao City on Thursday.
“For the time being ito lang muna… Kasi validated na eh. Iyong iba I just want to be doubly sure,” the chief executive said.
The President said the Department of the Interior and Local Government has filed administrative charges of grave misconduct, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service, conduct unbecoming of a public officer, and gross neglect of duty before the Office of the Ombudsman against the drug-linked officials.
“So ‘yung iba, huwag na muna kasi hindi ko sigurado eh. ‘Yung nai-file na, medyo validated na, then we can say that we have gathered enough proof,” he added.
Duterte said he was not keen on making the list public because he did not want to cause the defeat of a person who is genuinely into politics for serving people.
“I’m not really interested in releasing it before or after the elections because I do not have the slightest intention to hurt anybody or to be a cause of the failure of an election of a certain man who wants to serve the public,” he said.
