Dureza bares Loida Nicolas Lewis’ true motive for wanting Duterte out: She’s afraid Bongbong will become president
Filipino-American millionaire and philanthropist Loida Nicolas Lewis wants President Rodrigo Duterte to resign because she’s afraid former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will eventually take over the presidency.
This was bared by presidential peace adviser Jesus Dureza in an interview with I am Pinoy, Proud Ako TV show following his talk with Lewis at the Philippine Consulate General in New York Friday (Dec. 9).
Speaking to host Ethel Cantor Constantino, Dureza said Lewis’ call for Duterte to resign and give way to Vice President Leni Robredo appeared to be fueled by her belief that Marcos will succeed the President if he stays on.
Referring to Lewis, he said: “I think she was more concerned and I will disclose it without her permission– na she was more concerned about sa sinabi ni President Duterte na kung maging vice president si Bongbong Marcos, then magre-resign siya as president para ibigay niya kay Bongbong ang presidency.”
Dureza, however, denied hearing the President make the statement on Marcos.
He said he also told Lewis about his belief that Duterte will not resign, even for Marcos’ sake.
“I dont think this President will relinquish anything to anyone, whether to Bongbong Marcos or Leni Robredo, on a silver platter. Binoto siya ng taumbayan kasi kailangan siya eh,” Dureza said.
Last October, Duterte brought up the possibility of Marcos becoming the new vice president if he wins the poll protest he lodged against Robredo.
“Si Bingbong… Bongbong… Kung manalo siya sa protest niya, baka bago ang ating bise presidente,” he said in a gathering of Filipinos during his state visit to China.
Marcos and his sister, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee, were part of the official delegation for Duterte’s China trip.
