Duterte accuses fired Robredo of ‘grandstanding’

President Rodrigo Duterte has accused Vice President Leni Robredo of “grandstanding” as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
“The President said last night to me, ‘She was just grandstanding’,” Duterte’s spokesman Salvador Panelo said Monday.
Panelo added that Robredo should have talked to Duterte as regards her concerns in the government’s war on drugs.
“She could have just come to Malacañang. You know, everybody goes to Malacañang, persons of no authority, ordinary people, we entertain them. She is the Vice President, she’s certainly is welcome,” according to him.
Instead of grandstanding, Panelo said Robredo should have “gone to the grassroots” to assess the effectiveness of the country’s drug policy.
“She should have gone to the communities, talk with the people there, know their problems on drugs,” he added.
Sunday night, Duterte fired Robredo as ICAD chief.
