President Rodrigo Duterte is adamant that the Inter-Agency would not remove checkpoints that have restricted movement of people, vehicle and cargo during the lockdown.
Duterte made the order on Day One of the 15-day extension of the enhance community quarantine.
“I would advise the checkpoints not to be dismantled especially by the police,” said Duterte in a Monday briefing.
But Duterte said the Philippine National Police should make sure that key medical personnel, food factory workers, grocery and drug store clerks, and farmers would not be impeded from going to their respective stations.
“Do not stop motor vehicles carrying food and other vegetables from the province. Wave them through and do not delay their journey because people are waiting for the supplies,” said Duterte.
