While he admitted that his government was “not perfect,” President Rodrigo Duterte said he’s never stolen public funds.
“The government isn’t perfect. I’m not perfect either. Faults? Me? Plenty. But I don’t steal money,” Duterte said in a speech delivered in Cagayan de Oro City Friday.
He also acknowledged that extrajudicial killings occurred under his drug crackdown.
“I only have cases about extrajudicial killings. Ah, we’ll get there. I’m just trying to preserve my country. I don’t need to be lectured by anyone,” the President said.
Duterte likewise reiterated that he would dedicate his remaining years of his term fighting the war against illegal drugs and government corruption.
“That’s my job. I’m getting older by the day. So what should I do then? Work. And what is my job? To implement the law,” he added.
