Duterte airs frustration about corrupt friends: Pinanalo ako tapos sila unang magkakalat!
President Rodrigo Duterte still couldn’t believe that the friends who pushed him to run in 2016 will be the government officials he will fire later on for alleged corruption.
In a speech at the oath taking of new barangay officials Tuesday (June 12), Duterte said he thought his friends asked him to run for president “in good faith.”
“Sabihin ‘takbo ka kasi ganun, kaawa ng Pilipinas.’ So nanalo ka. You accommodate because you trust them as friends. Only to find out na ang unang magkalat sila,” he said in Pampanga.
“Travel kaagad. Papanaluhin ka tapos ‘pag nanalo, nandiyan na. Punta ng ano, kung saang climate change…,” he added.
Duterte has fired several government officials over alleged corruption and excessive travels. Some of the politikos he dismissed are National Irrigation Administration chief Peter Tiu Laviña, Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno and Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo.
The President has said he will not hesitate to fire anyone even for a “whiff” of corruption.
