President Rodrigo Duterte was angered by the death of a cadet of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) due to hazing, his spokesman said.
PMA plebe Darwin Dormitorio died inside the barracks in Fort Del Pilar in Baguio City due to injuries caused by hazing.
“Galit sya sa nangyayari,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told reporters Monday.
“Alam mo si Presidente. He’s one man who is always outraged by any kind of oppression, and hazing is an oppressive act kasi sinasaktan mo intentionally. Murder nga yun pag namatay. Siyempre ayaw niya yun,” added Panelo.
He likewise assured Dormitorio’s family that those who will be found responsible will be prosecuted.
“We are confident that our authorities would implement (Republic Act No. 11053, or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018) as they leave no stone unturned in the ongoing investigation on Mr. Dormitorio’s untimely demise,” Panelo said.
