Duterte appoints 14 new judges
Malacanang has appointed 14 new judges, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra announced on Tuesday (Oct. 29).
Guevarra said four of the magistrates have been assigned to metropolitan trial courts (MTC).
While, the rest have been assigned to municipal trial courts in cities (MTCC).
The appointments were made after President Rodrigo Duterte named as top magistrate Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta.
Newly appointed Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta has assured that he will continue the initiative of his predecessor in weeding misfits from the judiciary.
Peralta recently revealed that his 10-point program will include weeding out misfits from the judiciary.
“In order to do this, I plan to impose timelines in resolving administrative complaints, including complaint initiated by the court and timelines for the court to resolve this complaints,” he said.
During the first of 2019, the SC reported that there have been 21 judges who have been fined, suspended, reprimanded or admonished.
