President Rodrigo Duterte has named Michael Braganza Peloton as a new Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner.
Peloton will serve in the Comelec until February 2, 2027, his appointment paper signed on September 17 but released to media on Monday showed.
He replaced Commissioner Luie Tito Guia, who retired from the poll body last February.
“I am pleased to transmit the nomination letter of Mr. Michael Braganza Peloton, signed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte, as Commissioner, Commission on Elections, for a term expiring on 02 February 2027, vice Luie Tito F. Guia. Kindly notify and furnish the nominee with his nomination letter within seven days from receipts hereof,” Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said in a letter addressed to Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas.
Abas, for his part, said Peloton’s nomination is a “timely addition” to the Commission En Banc, adding that his “vast experience” in the area of Law and Information Technology will “highly contribute in our thrust to further improve and revolutionize our electoral processes.”
