President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Justice Secretary Vitaliano “Vit” Aguirre II as Commissioner of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM).
Aguirre will represent the private sector, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement Monday.
“We confirm that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has signed the appointment of Mr. Vitaliano “Vit” Aguirre II as Commissioner of the NAPOLCOM representing the private sector,” said Roque.
“This bodes well in his new position to make the police service competent, effective, credible and responsive to our people’s needs,” he added.
In 2018, Aguirre resigned as secretary of the Department of Justice after the dismissal of the cases against drug personalities Peter Lim, Kerwin Espinosa, and other co-accused.
