Duterte asks Moro people to join fight against ISIS

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday urged the people in Maguindanao to help the government fight the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group.
Duterte made the remark during the ceremonial distribution of certificates of land ownership award to hundreds of agrarian reform beneficiaries in Maguindanao.
“‘Pag nakausap ko si (Moro National Liberation Front founder) Nur (Misuari), then ang atin, they’ll just have to fight, sa inyo, kayo kasali kayo, you’ll have to fight the ISIS,” the President said.
According to him, the Jihadist militant group, who claimed responsibility for last month’s twin bombings of Jolo cathedral that killed at least 27 people, would create “hell” for Filipinos.
In his speech, Duterte also encouraged local rebels based in Maguindanao to lay down their arms and live a peaceful life.
“It behooves upon the Maguindanao people to… We are not here talking to destroy the future and our family. We are here planning for what we can do to them so that by the time they are the fathers and mothers of the community, they would know what to do and make it more comfortable for our children,” the chief executive said.
“‘Yan ang isipin ninyo. Drop the arms. Walang mangyari,” he added.
