Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has agreed to open his bank accounts at the BPI branch in Julia Vargas, Pasig City on Monday, 2 May, 2016, or a week before elections.
But Duterte will not be on hand in the possible face off with Sen. Antonio Trillanes who has dared Duterte to open the bank account which Duterte and his spokesperson had vehemently denied, only to admit it’s existence a few hours later.
Duterte said he would be in Davao on Monday and has tasked his lawyer, Atty. Salvador Panelo to represent him.”I will let Sal Panelo and (Trillanes) argue about it. At Ieast I can show you it doesn’t contain P200 million.” said Duterte in an interview with reporters.
Trillanes, who exposed the P211 millions secret deposits that Duterte didn’t disclose in his statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN), challenged Duterte to meet at the BPI branch at 11 a.m. on Monday to open the actual money inside the controversial accounts.
But as a condition for opening his BPI deposits, Duterte is demanding that Trillanes sign an affidavit revealing the source of Duterte’s bank details.
