Duterte avoids secret meetings with Joma, communists: Papatayin ka ng military!

President Rodrigo Duterte has stopped being friendly to communist rebels since he took over Malacanaing in 2016.

Duterte said that while he freely and openly “traversing ideological lines” when he was Davao City mayor, he could not do it anymore as the highest leader of the land.

“Yung mga kasama kong mga komunista noon ‘yung mga kaaway ko ngayon. P*****… Alam ng military. Alam nila lahat dito. They were at one time or rather assigned in Mindanao,” said Duterte.

“Actually, let me put it brutally. Pang-politika lang ‘yun. Para makapasok ka sa bukid, you are good to everybody. Eh ganun ang politika eh. But when I became President, there was a change. I could not talk to them even privately because that is not good for a president. Papatayin ka ng military mo. So ako sabi ko, I’m no longer the Mayor Duterte that you knew,” he added.

Three years after being elected, Duterte has taken a hard-line stance against the communists while filling up his Cabinet with ex-generals. “The Cabinet is just like this. Nandito kami mga halos civilians, we group together. Kaharap namin ‘yan sila puro military. Sila Secretary (Eduardo) Año, (Social Welfare Secretary Rolando) Bautista, lahat. They number about — how many of you sa military are there? Nine? Marami na eh. Pwede na kayong mag-coup d’état,” said Duterte.
