Duterte bets take 9 of 12 seats in partial count, Otso Diretso bets shut out

President Rodrigo Duterte flexed his muscles in the 2019 mid-term elections with his handpicked bets taking nine of the 12 seats so far, based on partial returns by the Commission on Elections.

Based on Election Returns (ER) processed (93.60 percent) 14 hours after the end of voting Monday, only Senators Grace Poe, Nancy Binay and former senator Lito Lapid are expectd to break Duterte bets’ stranglehold on the winners’ circle.

Duterte’s bets on the board are senator Cynthia Villar, Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go, Taguig City Representative Pia Cayetano, Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chair Francis Tolentino, and Senator Koko Pimentel, and former senator Bong Revilla. Otso Diretso were shut out with Senator Bam Aquino the only one with a chance of breaking through.
