President Rodrigo Duterte is concerned about the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak on the Philippine economy, according to Malacañang.
Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia had said the novel coronavirus, which first appeared in Wuhan, China, could cost the country P133 billion if this crisis lasts until December.
“Every president will be bothered every time na the country is affected kaya ginagawan ng paraan,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told DZIQ Sunday.
What the government can do, he added, is to stop the disease spreading any further.
Health authorities confirmed three cases of the coronavirus in the country, including one death – a 44-year-old Chinese man from Wuhan.
“Alam mo lahat tayo sa buong mundo na apektado ganyan ang resulta. Kaya nga ginawan na ng paraan, lahat ng klaseng protocols (ini-implement),” Panelo said.
