President Rodrigo Duterte sees the fatal police shooting of four army intelligence personnel in Jolo town as an “isolated incident.”

“It is my hope that this isolated incident will not spark animosity between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police,” Duterte said during his Talk to Troops at the Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Headquarters in Sulu province Monday.

As he conveyed his condolences for the death of the military men, the Chief Executive promised to uncover the truth regardless of whether it favors the police or the military.

“As your Commander-in-Chief and as President of the Republic of the Philippines, I assure you that I will see to it that the truth will come out be it in favor of the police or the military. Ang hinihingi ko lang ang totoong nangyari,” according to him.

“So you can rest assured that justice will be done to the family at ang mga tropa dito sa Jolo,” he added.
